LGBTQ+ Oral Histories

Dr. Jodi Kelber

Dr. Jodi Kelber has a past of political activism for LGBTQ+ rights. As a part of her Jewish heritage, she has a tight knit family and believes strongly in the power of giving back. She recalls coming out as a lesbian and working with LGBTQ+ rights and support groups in the 1990s. She details filing for a marriage license in a same-sex couple and being denied as a part of the ACLU case for gay marriage in Maryland. Dr. Jodi talks about the struggles of being a “legal stranger” to her former partner in the healthcare system and shares about the legal complexities of having children in a same-sex couple.
